Effective date: 17 March 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Faultline, operated by Faultline ("we", "us", "our") from Cardiff, Wales, UK. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using Faultline on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
Faultline is a web application that helps engineering teams map knowledge depth across system areas, identify coverage gaps, and track actions to close them. The service is accessed via usefaultline.com.
Faultline is currently in beta. The service is provided free of charge during the beta period. We may introduce paid plans in the future and will give reasonable notice before doing so.
The service is provided "as is" during the beta period. We do not offer any uptime guarantees or SLAs. Features may change, be removed, or behave unexpectedly. We strongly recommend that you do not use Faultline as your sole record of critical information.
We will make reasonable efforts to preserve your data, but you accept that data loss is possible during the beta period. We recommend exporting important data regularly.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately at hello@usefaultline.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
If you are an organisation admin, you are responsible for the actions of users within your organisation, and for managing their access appropriately.
You agree not to:
You retain ownership of all data you enter into Faultline. By using the service, you grant us a limited licence to store and process that data solely to provide and improve the service.
You are responsible for ensuring that any personal data about your team members that you enter into Faultline is done so with an appropriate legal basis (e.g. as part of your employment relationship). See our Privacy Policy for details of how we handle that data.
The Faultline name, logo, and all software, designs, and content we create are our intellectual property. These Terms do not grant you any rights to them beyond what is necessary to use the service.
You can delete your account at any time from the settings page. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, or if we decide to discontinue the service. We will give reasonable notice where possible.
On termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or business arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim (or £100 if you have paid nothing, as during the beta period).
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. We will notify you of material changes by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that point constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to hello@usefaultline.com.
